How does “Sound Bath Meditation” help in energy recovery and well being?

Mr Anil Sinha, Consciousness Engineering and Vital Energy Researcher, visited us for couple of days.  He has done lot of work with pyramid energy and we look for his insights and valuable discussions during such visits.  Our regular bi-weekly Free Sound Bath Meditation happened to be on the day when Anilji wore Holter (24-hour ECG) device to understand the changes in heart rate, variability and stress index.

SEE interns from Gujarat Technological University (LD College of Engineering) Meghal, Meghna and Vidhi requested him to take some notes and analysed the data to understand the changes in his parameters.  The outcome is shown in the visuals (Figure 1 – shows how meditation data stacks up compared to other activities and Figure 2 shows changes during 40 minutes long meditation at every 5 min interval).

Key insights:

  • During meditation, his heart rate was the least (out of the total 20 hours or so he was wearing the device) ! The RMSSD (The RMSSD reflects the beat-to-beat variance in heart rate and is the primary time domain measure used to estimate the vagally-mediated changes reflected in HRV[1]) also was highest during the meditation indicating a very relaxed state that brings rest-and-digest mode. Needless to add, the stress index[2] was also very low during the meditation.
  • Additional data related to the awake and sleep state is also provided to articulate the relative changes in other activities versus meditation.
  • The data during walking indicates an increased heart rate and reduced RMSSD. This is normal and such physical activity eventually helps in (a) reducing heart rate and (b) increasing RMSSD ! (though during the activity the readings are exactly opposite!)

Implications:

Being able to reduce the heart rate, stress index and increase the RMSSD are critical aspect of our energy recovery process that helps in building vitality, well being and long term health.  Regular activity such as the meditation can help in enhancing the nervous system and the endocrine system as well.  It is important to realize that such intervention must be incorporated into a daily routine (lifestyle choice) vs once in a while practice.
