What happens to my heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) during Sound Bath Meditation?

For many years, we conduct Free Meditation @ Wellness Space (also known as Sound Bath Meditation using Singing Bowls, details here). From time to time, we do simple studies to understand how the body and the mind responds to such meditations.  This article shares a case study of an individual before, during and after meditation with the focus on key parameters of our nervous system (heart rate, heart rate variability). Dr Chirag Zaveri, who comes regularly for the free meditation agreed to participate in this simple study and also consented when we asked if we could share his name on

Measuring the impact of sound healing on nervous system, heart rate variability and heart rate

The visual below demonstrates how human physiology (as measured by Heart Rate Variability (HRV)) changes before, during and after a sound healing session with singing bowls. Heart rate (shown by the red dotted line) begins to decrease when the singing bowl session starts and continues to decrease, remaining low (76) even after the session ends.  Heart Rate Variability (SDNN-see description below) increases during the sound session and remains very high even after the session has been completed. At the end of the sound session, HRV remains high, heart rate declines, and the parasympathetic nervous system remains more activated (a clear

Naad Yoga 1 (Sound Healing, A’bad Dec 23)

Wellness Space has an integrated certification program for Sound Healing. First level (Practitioner level) focuses on singing bowls (basic techniques) and the principles (art and the science) of sound healing. Second stage goes into the depth of singing bowls modalities and introduces chanting and breathing. This level (Master Practitioner) also incorporates the use of various technologies and qualitative methods to evaluate the progress of the client. It prepares the participant to demonstrate and explain the power of sound healing. Beyond Master Practitioner, the approach is more qualitative and is worked at an individual level with the instructor. Contact : info@wellness-space.net or
