Parenting style assessment (PSDQ)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YykFyDmonk Diana Baumrind, a clinical and developmental psychologist, coined the following parenting styles: authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive/indulgent. We have done extensive work on assessing these styles and explore what influences the styles, and how parents can recognize the impact of their parenting style on child's growth and development. In our workshop on "Pathways to Positive Parenting", we encourage the parents to understand their parenting style and, based on that, facilitate better interactions with the children.  Four parenting styles are highlighted below for reference. Riri and Anagha's book on parenting also covers the types of parenting styles and how to pursue

Effect of Lifestyle Choices on Cerebrospinal Fluid Pulsations

Our recent publication highlights the Effect of Lifestyle Choices on Cerebrospinal Fluid Pulsations. This research extends our work linking lifestyle choices with (a) chronic disease risk, (b) immune system imbalance risk, and (c) mental health issues-related risk.   The article highlights the importance of enhancing autonomic function through slow breathing (for example, research we have done on Bhramari and self-hypnosis gets additional backing through the findings of this review article). Several examples of the role of circadian rhythms and the need to align our lives to that rhythm are also provided. Abstract: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow plays a critical role in

Conference presentation: ACE and suicide behavior at NAOP

The below abstract was presented as part of the symposium at NAOP 2023 in Ahmedabad. Abstract # 4: A pilot study to understand the presence of adverse childhood experiences (childhood trauma) in adults with a history of suicide attempts at a well-being center in India Presenter: Neha Pandya Other contributors: Gunjan Y Trivedi, Hemalatha Ramani, Riri G Trivedi Abstract: Background: Suicide is India’s leading cause of death among adolescents and young adults. Evidence has highlighted the link between adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and suicidal behavior. The study attempts to understand the presence of ACEs among individuals with a history of

Predicting suicidal behavior among Indian adults using childhood trauma, mental health questionnaires and machine learning cascade ensembles

We are happy to share our recent conference presentation at Society of Energy & Emotions, along with Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi that seeks to predict suicidal behaviour among Indian adults using Childhood Trauma, Mental Health Questionnaires & Machine Learning Cascade. The abstract of the research that is accepted at Comsys 2023 is mentioned below: Abstract. Among young adults, suicide is India's leading cause of death, accounting for an alarming national suicide rate of around 16%. In recent years, machine learning algorithms have emerged to predict suicidal behavior using various behavioral traits. But to date, the efficacy of machine

Publication-Effect of Various Lengths of Respiration on Heart Rate Variability during Simple Bhramari (Humming)

Effect of Various Lengths of Respiration on Heart Rate Variability during Simple Bhramari (Humming) Heart rate variability (HRV) is a physiological phenomenon that measures the variation in time between successive heartbeats. High HRV is associated with a healthy and flexible autonomic nervous system, reflecting the body's ability to adapt to different situations. It is often seen in individuals with good cardiovascular health and resilience to stress. On the other hand, low HRV may indicate a less adaptive autonomic nervous system and can be associated with various health issues, such as cardiovascular disease, chronic stress, or other conditions affecting autonomic function.
